Got a letter saying your plan ends Dec. 31, 2026? Here's what's changing, the dates that matter, and how to pick a new plan.
Quick answer: If you buy your own health insurance in Oregon and your plan is from Providence Health Plan or PacificSource, it won't continue in 2027. The same goes for Moda plans in Marion and Polk counties. That's according to the Oregon Health Authority (Oct. 15, 2026) and the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation.
Your plan keeps working through Dec. 31, 2026. To be covered on Jan. 1, 2027, choose a new plan on Explore Health, Oregon's health insurance marketplace, by Dec. 31, 2026. In Marion and Polk counties, 2027 plans come from BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente and Regence. If you don't choose, the state may move you to a similar plan, so check that your doctors and prescriptions are covered first.
English or Spanish. We'll compare the 2027 plans in your county with you. Our help costs nothing extra.
This change is about plans you buy on your own, like a plan from HealthCare.gov or one bought straight from an insurance company. It doesn't mean Providence hospitals or clinics are closing. (More on that below.) If your health insurance comes through your job, ask your employer about your 2027 plan.
In Marion and Polk counties, 2027 plans come from BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente and Regence. Here's what the state's county table shows for our part of Oregon:
| County | Companies offering 2027 plans you buy on your own | How many |
|---|---|---|
| Marion (Salem, Keizer, Woodburn) | BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente, Regence | 3 |
| Polk (West Salem, Dallas, Monmouth) | BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente, Regence | 3 |
| Yamhill | BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente, Moda, Regence | 4 |
| Clackamas | BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente, Moda, Regence | 4 |
| Linn | BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente*, Moda, Regence | 4 |
| Benton | BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente*, Moda, Regence | 4 |
*Kaiser Permanente offers plans in only part of Linn and Benton counties. Source: Oregon Division of Financial Regulation, final 2027 individual plan coverage by county (form 440-5220), checked Oct. 23, 2026. Companies are listed in alphabetical order. This table isn't a recommendation.
Moda also won't offer these plans in six other Oregon counties: Crook, Deschutes, Klamath, Lake, Umatilla and Union, according to Explore Health's list of 2027 changes.
If you got your plan through HealthCare.gov, your information moves to Explore Health. And if that plan is ending, the state has already matched you with a similar plan from another insurance company. This is to help you avoid a gap in coverage. It compared doctor networks, benefits and costs to pick the match.
Explore Health says you'll get information about renewing your coverage for 2027 before open enrollment. If your plan is no longer offered, Explore Health may enroll you in a similar plan, which may be from a different insurance company.
The match is a starting point. The state doesn't know which doctors you see or which prescriptions you take. Explore Health's own advice is to look carefully at your options before you keep the plan you were matched with.
You should also have a letter from your insurance company. Keep it. If you ever need to show when your plan ended, that letter helps.
Bought your plan straight from the insurance company, not through HealthCare.gov? Don't count on being matched. Plan to choose a new plan by Dec. 31, 2026.
Losing your plan may still let you sign up through a Special Enrollment Period, a sign-up window outside open enrollment. Explore Health says you can usually apply within 60 days after your coverage ends. New coverage usually starts the first day of the next month. Whether your situation qualifies is up to Explore Health. Keep the letter that shows when your plan ended. You may not qualify if you canceled the plan yourself or it ended because you stopped paying. Don't wait for this: choosing by Dec. 31 is the safer path.
Dates as of October 2026, for 2027 coverage. They may change.
We'll go through these steps with you.
Write down the doctors, clinics and hospital you use. Most plans use a set network of doctors. We'll check which plans include your doctors, using each insurance company's list of doctors. If a doctor matters to you, you can also call their office and ask which 2027 plans they take.
Each plan has a list of the drugs it covers. We'll look up every medicine you take in each plan's drug list, so you can see which plans may fit.
Help paying your monthly bill is still available for 2027 if you qualify. It depends on your income and household size. For 2027, some immigrants who got help before can still buy a plan but can't get help paying for it. We'll check this with you and estimate your help for 2027. It may go up, go down or stay the same, so compare the price you'd pay after any help.
The deductible is the amount you pay for many kinds of covered care each year before your plan starts to pay its share. A plan with a lower monthly bill often has a higher deductible. Think about how often you see a doctor.
This is the most you'd pay in a year for covered care from in-network doctors. It counts your deductible, copays (set fees for visits or prescriptions) and coinsurance (your share of the bill). Once you reach it, the plan pays for the rest of your covered in-network care that year. Your monthly bill doesn't count toward it.

Before we help with your application, Oregon requires you to sign a short form saying you want our help. It's called a consent form, and it's good for one year.
Already started your application on Explore Health? You can still add us as your agent. In your application, choose the option for getting help from a certified enrollment partner, then search for "Gilberto Lopez" with Legacy Insurance Group. That's how Gilbert's name is listed there. Or call us and we'll help you finish.

Is my Providence or PacificSource health plan ending?
If you buy your own health insurance in Oregon, yes. For 2027, Providence Health Plan and PacificSource won't offer plans to people who buy their own health insurance in Oregon, according to the Oregon Health Authority (Oct. 15, 2026). Your current plan keeps working through Dec. 31, 2026, as long as you keep paying your monthly bill.
Is Moda leaving Marion and Polk counties?
For plans people buy on their own, yes. Moda won't offer them in Marion or Polk counties for 2027, according to Explore Health and the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation. In those two counties, 2027 plans come from BridgeSpan, Kaiser Permanente and Regence.
Will I be moved to a new plan automatically?
You may be. If you got your plan through HealthCare.gov, the state has matched you with a similar plan from another insurance company, and your renewal notice will tell you which one. If you don't choose a plan, you may be enrolled in that match. The state doesn't know your doctors or prescriptions, so check them before you keep it.
What's the deadline to choose a new plan?
Choose a plan by Dec. 31, 2026 for coverage that starts Jan. 1, 2027. Open enrollment runs until Jan. 15, 2027, but plans chosen Jan. 1–15 start Feb. 1, 2027. If your plan ends Dec. 31, that leaves January without coverage.
Are Providence hospitals and clinics closing?
This change is about Providence Health Plan's plans, not its hospitals or clinics. Providence says it will keep providing care through its clinics, doctors, nurses and hospitals. Whether a Providence doctor or hospital is in a 2027 plan's network depends on the plan, so check before you choose.
What should I have ready when we talk?
Have these ready when we talk:
We never ask for any of this on our website form. We go over it with you by phone or in the office.
What if not everyone in my family has the same immigration status?
You can ask for coverage for someone in your family even if others aren't asking for it. Only the person asking for coverage gives immigration information. Explore Health says that information is used only to see if the person qualifies for coverage and help paying. Each person may have different options, and we'll tell you what applies to each one. We don't give immigration advice. If you have questions about your case, talk with an immigration lawyer or a trusted organization before you decide.
Can I help my mom or dad sign up?
Yes, and you're welcome on every call. Your parent needs to be on the call too, and they sign Oregon's consent form themselves. If you'll be handling things for them, Explore Health lets your parent name you as their authorized representative.
Does your help cost anything?
No extra cost. Your plan's monthly price is the same with or without an agent. Agents are paid by the insurance company, not by you.
